Hi, I’m Gillian — and along with my long-time partner-in-musical-mischief, Paul, we live in what we like to call our magic music bubble.
It’s a world where piano teachers lift each other up, share ideas freely, and make a massive difference in the world simply by helping more people play music.
I started teaching piano when I was 17, running a school by 19, and soon realised my heart belonged to group piano teaching. Together with Paul, we created our Whole Body Learning approach and built the Forte School of Music, which has since grown into a global family of thousands of people who teach, love, and enjoy music.
As a child, Paul had one too many 'concerts' on the kitchen bench, so his mum bought him an organ! He went on to study Maths and Music, but when his assessor marked him down for making lessons too fun, he knew he was onto something. Why shouldn't music be FUN?!
Fast forward a few years and a few thousand lessons later, Paul’s teaching was recently the subject of a PhD study that confirmed what we always knew — Whole Body Learning works because it connects movement, emotion, and neuroscience to result in deep, embodied learning.
